It’s My Vote: I Will Be Heard Postcards!
AAUW produced It’s My Vote postcards to encourage and remind our members to vote! Each postcard contains a voting pledge and issue interest section. Members should fill out their postcards as soon as possible, and in a couple months when the elections are right around the corner, branches will send each member their previously completed postcard, reminding them to vote! If your branch is interested in receiving postcards to distribute to members, please email VotereEd@aauw.org

Social Media Efforts
AAUW has been hard at work in utilizing various social media avenues to spread information and encourage participation in the 2012 election. AAUW uses Youtube, Twitter, AAUW Dialog (our blog), and Facebook to quickly, concisely, and effectively spread information to millennial voters in the spirit of generating more excitement among young women!

Latest It’s My Vote Pep Talks on Youtube: Jess Weiner and Elle Helmer
AAUW Action Fund sponsors a collection of short, personal videos from AAUW advocates explaining why they vote, and encouraging other women to also have their voices heard by voting. The most recent pep talk features Jess Weiner, self-esteem advocate and Global Ambassador for Dove Self-Esteem Fund. With an impassioned voice, Jess tells viewers “there is no better way to make social change than by voting.” Another recently added pep talk features Elle Helmer, former Marine and lead plaintiff in a federal lawsuit against her rapists at the U.S. Marine Barracks in Washington DC. Helmer’s story, along with other stories of women who experienced sexual assault in the military, is featured in new documentary, The Invisible War. “It’s important to play an integral part in who the elected leader will be, and what our government stands for,” says Helmer.
