#TrickorVote for Equal Pay, Paid Leave, College Affordability, and Reproductive Rights

The AAUW Action Fund’s It’s My Vote: I Will Be Heard voter education and turnout campaign represents an unprecedented investment in making women’s voices heard in the 2016 election. Follow us on Twitter for the latest updates.

“Trick or tweet, smell my feet, give me equal pay each week!”

Can you guess what we want this Halloween? Eight days after kids across the country get dressed up and hit the streets to trick or treat, American voters will be making vital decisions about who will represent them. Women voters are watching, and they will hold candidates accountable on Election Day and beyond. But you don’t have to wait until November 8 to make your voice heard!

AAUW Action Fund is braced to talk about some scary stuff during Halloween week and we dare you to join us. From 1 to 2 p.m. ET on Monday, October 31, we’ll host a Twitter campaign we’re calling #TrickorVote. We’re raising awareness about the fact that women will decide this election and it’s important we all show up to the polls on November 8 knowing where candidates stand. Everyone can help! Join us in sending tweets asking candidates about their support for issues that impact women. Together we can get the hashtag #TrickorVote trending on Twitter.

This Twitter campaign is timed to reach candidates and voters in the final days before the election, right around Halloween, because the statistics on issues that affect women and their families have us a little spooked. We’ll be focusing on issues covered in our AAUW Action Fund Voter Issue Guides like equal pay, paid leave, college affordability, and reproductive rights as we ask candidates where they stand.

Here are some scary statistics to get you fired up to tweet at your candidates:

Those on Twitter can use the following sample tweets to target congressional and gubernatorial candidates in high-profile races between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. ET on Monday, October 31.

Not on Twitter? You can still join the #AAUWTrickorTweet campaign!

Post this blog on Facebook to get others to join the conversation. Find candidates’ Facebook pages and ask them what they’ll do about issues that affect women like paid leave, equal pay, reproductive rights, and student debt!

This Halloween, elected officials can keep their candy — we’d rather have gender equity.
